Kirk Kinard
The Pascagoula, MS native began his medical career after a brief stint in the minor leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks professional baseball organization after graduating from Millsaps College in 1996. After receiving his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003, he completed his Anesthesia residency and Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and maintains dual Board Certification in both specialties. Dr. Kinard resides in Oxford, MS with his wife and two children.
He has served on the Board of Directors for the Southern Pain Society, is an active member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Society of Addiction Medicine, Mississippi State Medical Association, and currently sits on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure. He has been practicing pain management since 2008, focusing on treatments which minimize the role of medications with high risk of chemical dependency and addiction.
Dr. Kinard believes that medical marijuana, when prescribed with good judgement and oversight, has proven to be a good therapeutic medication option for patients suffering from many chronic, debilitating conditions. He founded Pause Pain and Wellness medical clinics to serve as extensions of an established multidisciplinary approach to pain management and other eligible debilitating conditions. The purpose of the dedicated certification clinics is to offer patients a pressure free, stigma free setting to learn more about the possible role of this “new” treatment option and guide them safely through their therapeutic journey..
